Superb French restaurant Brasserie St Jacques found in London’s St James’s area offers traditional French cuisine in all its glory. The design is pleasingly authentic with egg yolk yellow walls, red leather banquettes and Gallic pictures and the native French waiters are formally dressed. Fans of honest, simple French fare will love Brasserie St Jacques where classics such as terrine de foie gras, steak tartare, oysters, snails and salade nicoise sit alongside more creative dishes such as skate wing with a buttery chorizo potato cake or rognon de veau aux trois moutardes ( tender pink kidneys with a mustardy cream sauce). Desserts are equally as good such as the amazing crème caramel or the floating island. As for the wine list, it doesn’t come cheap but it’s very very good and covers all of the major French regions. Brasserie St Jacques is so authentically French in every way, you may just forget you are in London when you step inside.
