Type of cuisine: French
Average price: £45.00 Nearest tube: Sloane Square
Once a Victorian pub, 50 Cheyne Walk has metamorphosed into a chic, modern definition of a brasserie and salon. The pale olive exterior of Cheyne Walk Brasserie hints at the Gallic charm within, while frosted windows are reminiscent of a Rive Gauche brasserie. Inside, old meets new: sky blue banquettes sit alongside carver chairs in rich crimson, while simple wood floors contrast with dazzling ornate chandeliers. At the centre of Cheyne Walk Brasserie's Belle Epoque dining room is an open grill where much of the Provencal inspired menu is prepared; entrees of Tartare de Saumon Frais and Moule au Cidre are executed perfectly. Main courses include star Provencal fish dishes, borne out of Executive Chef Franck Lebiez's love of the Cote d'Azure - try Loup Grille aux Herbs de Provence. Salads feature the best sun-drenched Mediterranean ingredients in delicious combinations. Classic mains include Cote de Bœuf and Carre d'Agneau, accompanied by Gallic sides like Gratin Dauphinois, while Crème Brûlée and Moelleux au Chocolat will satisfy the sweetest of teeth. Perfect for whiling away the hours or great for pre & after dinner drinks, the upstairs Salon is exceptional. The room evokes the atmosphere of an indulgent French Salon, with a stunning river view, and sumptuous deep chaises longues just perfect for relaxing on. The quality of the drinks served, equals the superb surroundings. A specially created cocktail list includes classics with a French twist as well as unique Cheyne Walk drinks such as Les Culottes Rouges and the French Rose, alongside a great range of vintage Champagnes & fine Cognacs. All in all Cheyne Walk Brasserie is a fantastic neighbourhood restaurant which combines high-class sophistication with old-fashioned flair.
