Enjoy the fabulous and well priced French menu at the excellent La Sophia restaurant in Ladbroke Grove

 

La Sophia restaurant is a relatively new addition to the Ladbroke Grove area of London, serving well priced, high quality French cuisine. Situated just a stone’s throw away from the trendy Portobello Road, La Sophia is an elegant and attractive eatery. The dining room is decked out in a cool Mediterranean style with wonderfully high ceilings, smart wooden flooring and stylish furnishings. There is also a lounge like basement bar where diners can enjoy pre or post meal cocktails. Owner and Chef Ali heads up the La Sophia kitchen and has created a fantastic menu which is surprisingly well priced considering the quality of the ingredients used. Indulge in starters such as pan seared scallops in langoustine butter sauce or roasted pigeon with saffron sauce and pancetta crisps followed by pan seared duck breast, dried cranberry sauce and Demi glace sauce or poached wild halibut fillet with clams and spring vegetables. A real treat has to be the amazing Tournedoes Rossini (Prime Angus Aberdeen fillet mignon topped with foie gras and thyme jus). The wine list is pleasingly short but very well chosen, featuring a fine selection of French wines. La Sophia is a delightful restaurant offering high quality French food at excellent prices.

We had Christmas dinner at La Sophia and wow it was fantastic evening! Crackers were left on the table, which was a nice touch to start the evening. All four courses were perfectly cooked not too much just the right balance on every plate. Service was perfect, and warming. All 5 of us enjoyed the evening at this little restaurant that was very busy. Glad it was a memorable one for 2010.

Fantastic restaurant! La Sophia does really does tick every box - the meal was lovely. The wine, service, and the lighting were just right - be it for couples or small groups. We went downstairs for a drink after, was buzzing and lots of fun. Good value and I recommend this place.

What a find, great small restaurant. The cheese souflee is amazing, the special lamb was something I had not tasted before, its really good. Service is friendly and welcoming. Def recomend

This was our second visit and yet again we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Nothing was too much trouble, Olivier the new Maitre d' was quite charming. They even provided a "meal" for our 8 month granddaughter! The scallops were delicious, the lamb melted in your mouth and the chocolate fondant was to die for. Can't wait to go back
