The French Mediterranean is brought to the streets of London in the charming restaurant and deli Truc Vert in upmarket Mayfair. Named after a beach in South West France, Truc Vert was one of the first restaurant/delis to open in London and offers flavoursome French food using the finest ingredients. The restaurant is simple and unpretentious, with a rustic wooden style and pavement tables fill up fast during the warmer months. The local Mayfair workforce pack the place at lunchtimes whereas evenings become a little more formal with white linen topped tables and subtle candlelight and romance is definitely the keyword. Start with a dish of quail with pancetta, beetroot, caramelised apple, rocket and tomato chutney and follow with seared ostrich steak with deep fried courgettes or char grilled lemon sole with roast pepper, lemon and herb dressing. The wine list is superb and wine tasting sessions are often held. Truc Vert is a real Mayfair favourite and really does bring a breath of Southern French sunshine to one of London’s most exclusive addresses.
